About Stokksnes
Stokksnes is a coastal headland near Höfn. The Vestrahorn massif marks the skyline with rugged slopes, while the lower area features dark sand, dunes and vegetation. Viewing the mountains from the coast is the main reason to visit.
The look of the landscape depends on viewpoint and visibility. In some sections, the shallow water can create reflections when conditions allow, but that effect is not permanent. Even without reflections, the relationship between the dunes and the terrain allows for different compositions.
Access involves a road detour east of Höfn and passing through an area with its own visiting rules. Check the authorized route before entering. Allow time to walk between viewpoints, and do not confuse a visit to the landscape with climbing the mountains or with activities at nearby facilities.
