About Fjallsárlón
Fjallsárlón sits in front of the Fjallsjökull glacier tongue, in the southern sector of Vatnajökull. The lagoon gathers icebergs and meltwater, with mountains in the background. The framing allows you to perceive the transition between the glacier front and the coastal plain.
The scene changes with ice calving, wind and light. The number of ice blocks in the water is not fixed. Viewing from land lets you experience the landscape without taking part in the boat trips offered in the area.
The site lies on a detour from Route 1, west of Jökulsárlón, and can be included between Hof and Höfn. Allow time for the walk from the arrival area. Those wishing to take boat trips should check seasonal operation and book in advance on the official website, treating that activity separately from a simple stop on the shores.
