About Semmeringbahn

The Semmeringbahn is the mountain railway that crosses the Semmering region. Viaducts, tunnels and curves are part of the route recognized as a World Heritage site.

The ensemble can be experienced on a rail journey and via observation paths on land. They are different experiences: a train using the corridor is not the same as a guided visit with stops at viewpoints. The historic route extends beyond the town of Semmering.

For a first outing, choose your arrival station and a walking section that suits your return. Between May and October it is usually easier to follow paths with adequate light and footing, though weather varies. Check the train service and trail conditions before planning the day.
