Get to know the place

A region to enjoy
at your own pace.

Eastern Bohemia can be explored from Hradec Králové, a town of old squares and architectural references from different periods. The White Tower lets you view the urban core before strolling the streets. Kuks adds a Baroque complex set in a valley landscape.

Litomyšl offers a different pace, with the elongated Smetana Square and the Portmoneum, a house transformed by Josef Váchal's paintings. Further west, Kladruby nad Labem presents a landscape arranged for carriage-horse breeding. Each stop requires its own time rather than a sequence of short, connected visits.

The region also makes it possible to extend the trip toward the Krkonoše mountains or the Adršpach rocks, with specific planning for trails and transport. Winter days, from December to February, are usually short and alter the distribution of outdoor outings.

This destination brings together 2 cities: Hradec Králové, Litomyšl.

Portmoneum – Museum Josefa Váchala

The Portmoneum occupies a house in Litomyšl decorated by Josef Váchal for Josef Portman. The mural paintings transform the interiors into an experience of colour and narrative. It is a small-scale museum whose interest requires entering and observing slowly, rather than only seeing the façade.
