About Seljalandsfoss
Seljalandsfoss plunges from an escarpment on the South Coast corridor. Its narrow curtain lets you make out the cliff face and the space carved behind the water. The scene differs from the broad fall of Skógafoss, although both lie close to Route 1.
Paths at the base provide lateral viewpoints. The route that goes around the curtain of water depends on conditions and which sections are open; seeing the waterfall does not require completing that loop. The spray often reaches nearby passages, altering the experience depending on the wind.
The stop pairs well with Hvolsvöllur and with the onward drive to Vík. Allow time to walk beyond the first viewpoint. The neighboring fall Gljúfrabúi can complement the visit when access is available, without turning the short connection into another road commitment.
