Røros is the former copper town on the plateau in eastern Trøndelag, with a centre of miners’ wooden houses, the stone church Bergstadens Ziir, the Smelthytta smelter and the slag heaps — a World Heritage Site. The Olavsgruva mine is 13 km away.

Trondheim is Norway’s third city, at the mouth of the Nidelva on the Trondheimsfjord.
