Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.

Confirm before booking. Andøya airport serves the region. It is also possible to arrive by road from Sortland; the ferry connection with Gryllefjord follows a seasonal timetable.

When to go

From June to August, summer is usually mild with very long days. The northern lights are typically sought between September and March. Winter is usually cold with short days.

Do you need a car?

Visits to the port and the museum can be done on foot. A car or an organized tour makes Bleik and island drives easier.

    Andenes fyr

    Andenes lighthouse is a cast-iron tower painted red beside the village harbour, at the northern tip of Andøya. The structure helps identify the coastline profile and reflects the area's connection to navigation and fishing.

  2. Afternoon
    Bleik

    Bleik is a village on Andøya's west coast, with houses close to the sandy shore and mountains nearby. The visit combines a walk through the settlement and time on the beach, without requiring a sea activity.

  3. Late afternoon
    Andøymuseet

    The Andøymuseet is located by Andenes harbour and presents stories related to life in northern Norway. The exhibition on Hilmar Nøis's life allows visitors to learn about the work and experience of someone who lived in polar regions. The visit takes place in the museum building, separate from the climb to the lighthouse.
