Palermo
Palermo is the capital of Sicily and the city of the Arab-Norman UNESCO World Heritage ensemble: the cathedral, the Palazzo dei Normanni with the Cappella Palatina, the Martorana, San Giovanni degli Eremiti, the Zisa and the Duomo di Monreale. It has the Quattro Canti, Piazza Pretoria, the Teatro Massimo, the museums of Palazzo Abatellis and Salinas, the Catacombe dei Cappuccini, the Ballarò market, the sanctuary of Santa Rosália and the beach of Mondello.

Agrigento
Agrigento, on the southern coast of Sicília, occupies the site of ancient Akragas, one of the wealthiest cities of the Greek world. Below the modern centre lies the Valle dei Templi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the Tempio della Concordia and the ruins of the Tempio di Zeus. The visit is completed by the Museo Archeologico Pietro Griffo, the Giardino della Kolymbethra and, on the neighbouring coast, the white cliff of the Scala dei Turchi.

Catânia
Catânia is the second-largest city in Sicily, on the east coast at the foot of Mount Etna. The center was rebuilt in Baroque style after the 1693 earthquake, using a lot of dark lava stone. It has the Piazza del Duomo with the Fontana dell'Elefante and the Cattedrale di Sant'Agata, the fish market La Pescheria, the Via Etnea, the Monastero dei Benedettini, the Roman theatre and the Castello Ursino. It is the gateway to Etna.

Cefalù
Cefalù is a fishing town on Sicily’s northern coast, about an hour from Palermo, squeezed between the sea and a 268‑metre rock. The Norman Duomo, with the Christ Pantocrator mosaic, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The town has the Rocca trail up to the Tempio di Diana, the Museo Mandralisca with the Antonello da Messina portrait, and a sandy beach next to the center.

Siracusa
Siracusa, in southeast Sicily, was founded by Greek settlers from Corinth in the 8th century BC and came to rival Athens. It is the city of Archimedes. The old town is on the island of Ortigia, with the Duomo built over a Greek temple, the Fonte Aretusa and the Temple of Apollo. On the mainland, the Parco Archeologico della Neapolis has the Teatro Greco and the Orecchio di Dionisio, and the Museo Paolo Orsi houses the island's archaeology. Noto, the Baroque town, is nearby.

Taormina
Taormina is a small town on the heights of Monte Tauro, about 200 meters above the Ionian Sea, with views of Etna. It has the greco‑roman Teatro Antico, the Corso Umberto with churches and medieval palaces, the gardens of the Villa Comunale, the islet of Isola Bella in the bay below and the village of Castelmola even higher up. It has been one of Sicily's most visited destinations since the 19th century.
