How to get there
-
Aeroporto de Turku (TKU) 8 km
-
Turun päärautatieasema 1 km
Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.
Confirm before purchasing. TKU airport serves the region. From Helsinki, use train or bus and check the arrival station of the service you choose.
How many days
Two days cover the main urban routes. Allocate additional days for Paimio and for the island, with reservations and crossings confirmed.
When to go
From June to August, summer usually brings long days and periods of rain. Between December and February the cold and limited daylight tend to favour indoor visits.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
In the centre, bus and walking handle much of the itinerary. A car makes some archipelago access easier, but does not remove dependence on ferries.

Frequently asked questions
Can I walk from the centre to the castle?

The usual access goes via Kasnäs and requires a road stage before the boat.
How to fit the sanatorium into the trip?
Reserve a separate slot and organise the Paimio visit before deciding on transport.
How to organize the day for the Örö trip?
Combine the road access to Kasnäs with the round-trip crossing; the outing requires a full day.
