About Botaniska trädgården i Lund
The Jardim Botânico de Lund belongs to the university and has occupied its current site since the 19th century. It covers about 8 hectares in the city centre, with approximately 7,000 species, organized by world regions and by plant families. It functions both as a research laboratory and as a park, with benches, ponds and gravel paths.
The outdoor areas show mountain plants in a rock garden, trees from various parts of the world, beds of medicinal and useful plants, and Swedish flora, with species that visitors find in the countryside of Escânia. In spring, from April to May, magnolias, cherry trees and bulbs usually bloom, and the garden attracts many visitors.
The greenhouses contain tropical and desert plants, with orchids, bromeliads, cacti and carnivorous plants.
The garden is a place of rest for students, who study and picnic on the grass, and pairs well with the cathedral and Kulturen on the same day.
