About Turun linna

Turku Castle lies near the mouth of the Aura, in an area separated from the central commercial core. Its oldest parts date from the 13th century, and the complex received later alterations. Understanding the building involves courtyards, stone volumes and interior spaces with varied functions.

The visit shows both the medieval structure and rooms associated with court life and the castle's changing uses. Do not expect a single-level route: stairs, passages and differences between wings are part of the experience. The exterior lets you perceive the scale of the complex next to the harbour area.

Allow time for the entrance and complete the route along the riverbank when time permits. The castle is not in the same block as the city museums, so plan for a bus or a longer walk. Confirm which internal circuits are included with your ticket before you start.
