About Luostarinmäki

Luostarinmäki preserves a group of wooden houses that remained in the city after the 1827 fire. The buildings are in their original places, which allows you to see not only interiors but also the arrangement of courtyards and pathways of an old Turku neighborhood.

The museum presents living and working environments, bringing visitors closer to trades and everyday practices. The experience depends on the houses’ program and the activities offered in season. The ensemble should not be confused with a village made up solely of buildings relocated from elsewhere.

Check which interiors are open to visitors at the time you choose and allow time to walk between the courtyards. From May to September the outdoor routes are usually more comfortable, although there may be rain. The museum neighborhood complements the center’s archaeology with an interpretation of the wooden city.
