How to get there

  • Savonlinnan rautatieasema 1 km

Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.

Confirm before booking. The rail link typically goes via Parikkala. Bus and road are alternatives; confirm the arrival point before choosing your base.

How many days

Two full days, in addition to arrival day, allow you to separate the castle visit from the Punkaharju area.

When to go

From June to August summer usually has long days and possible rain. Between December and February it is typically cold with few daylight hours.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

The center does not require a vehicle. For Punkaharju, the train can cover part of the access; a car makes it easier to choose between different trail starting points.
