About Pielpajärven erämaakirkko

Pielpajärvi Church is located outside the Inari core, by a lake and an area of forest. The 18th-century wooden building retains a small scale, with a cruciform plan and a bell tower attached to the group. Arriving on foot is part of the experience of visiting the place.

The usual route from the road requires several kilometers of walking over natural terrain. The visit should not be planned as an immediate car stop at the door. Check official information about the start, length, and conditions of the path, and allow time for the return as well.

From June to September it is generally easier to arrange the walk without snow, depending on conditions. The church may still host ceremonies on specific occasions, and access must respect that schedule. Combine architecture and landscape, without adding another long walk in the same period.
