About Kolin kansallispuisto – Ukko-Koli
Koli National Park protects ridges, forests and rural landscape areas along lake Pielinen. Ukko-Koli is one of the observation points used to understand the distribution of islands and shores. The view is part of a hike, with ascent and rocky sections at the top.
The ridge circuit allows combining different perspectives, but terrain and duration should guide the choice. The Ukko nature center provides information on routes and conditions. A short visit to the viewpoint is not equivalent to covering the entire park area, which extends beyond that access.
From Joensuu, arrange round-trip transport to the Koli sector before you set out. From May to September conditions are generally more suitable for snow-free hiking, depending on month and weather. In winter, choose season-appropriate activities and confirm availability, not assuming the summer route remains the same.
