Puerto Baquerizo Moreno – Galápagos Destination Galápagos Capital

How to get there

  • Aeropuerto de San Cristóbal (SCY) 1 km
  • Muelle de Puerto Baquerizo Moreno (barcos entre as ilhas) 1 km

Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.

Confirm before buying. From Quito or Guayaquil there are direct flights to San Cristóbal airport, about 1 km from town. There is biosafety control when leaving the mainland and on arrival to the islands, and an entry fee to the national park; check the rules before you go. Speedboats link the town to Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz in about two hours.

How many days

Two to three days are enough for the Centro de Interpretación, Tijeretas, La Lobería and the boat trip to Kicker Rock. With more time you can add the highlands, including the El Junco lagoon and the La Galapaguera tortoise center.

When to go

From December to May it's the warm season, with calmer seas for snorkeling; from June to November it's cooler and drier, with colder water and rougher seas.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

No. The town, the Centro de Interpretación, Tijeretas and La Lobería can be done on foot or by taxi. For the highlands, use taxis or excursions; for Kicker Rock you need a boat.
