  • Estação de Odense (Odense Banegård Center) 1 km

Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.

Check before you buy. From Copenhagen the train takes about 1h15 over the Great Belt Bridge; from Aarhus about 1h30. The station is in the centre and brings together trains, buses and the light rail (letbane).

How many days

One day for the H. C. Andersen museum, the cathedral and the old quarter; two days including Den Fynske Landsby and Egeskov.

When to go

From May to September, with Den Fynske Landsby and Egeskov open and boats on the Odense River. In August the H. C. Andersen festival often takes place. In winter it's cold and outdoor attractions close or operate only partially.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

Not for the city, which is explored on foot, by bike and by light rail. For Egeskov there's a train to Kværndrup; a car makes that outing and visiting rural villages easier.
