About Cayo Sombrero
Cayo Sombrero is one of the cayos farthest from the shore in Parque Nacional Morrocoy, on the park's eastern edge facing the open sea. It has beaches on both sides with white sand, and an interior of coconut trees that provide shade.
The water is clear and, near the rocks and reefs, good for snorkeling, with colorful fish and corals. On calm days, the sea color ranges from light green to blue.
Because it is one of the most popular, the cayo usually has stalls and food for sale and gets crowded on holidays.
Boats depart from Tucacas and Chichiriviche; the trip is a bit longer than to the nearby cayos and passes among other cayos and channels of the park.
