About Centro histórico de Lambayeque
Lambayeque was founded in the mid-16th century as San Pedro de Lambayeque and, after the destruction of Zaña, received many of the region's wealthy families. The center preserves straight streets, colonial and republican mansions, and the church of San Pedro, near the main square, Parque Pascual Saco Oliveros.
The best-known mansion is the Casa de la Logia, also called Casa Montjoy, with a long wooden balcony that stretches for dozens of meters along the façade. Other old houses show wooden portals, iron grilles and inner courtyards.
The church of San Pedro, of colonial origin, has a façade with towers and is the town's main church.
The walk through the center is short and pairs well with the two museums in town, which are a few minutes on foot. The confectioneries in the center sell the King Kong, the sweet that is a symbol of Lambayeque.
