How many days
One day for the waterfront, the historic center and a lakeside lunch. In summer, a whole weekend to enjoy the beach and the nightlife. Outside the high season, you can do a day trip from Asunción and return the same day.
When to go
December to February is the summer season, with more activity, weekend events and strong heat. From March to November the town is calm, with mild days in autumn and spring and some cold fronts between June and August.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
You don’t need one for the center and the waterfront, which are walkable. A car helps to go around the lake and visit Areguá, Caacupé or Altos in the same day. Without a car, there are regular buses to Asunción and Caacupé.
