About Bud
Bud is a fishing village at the tip of the Romsdal peninsula, facing the Hustadvika, a stretch of open, shallow sea full of reefs, about 50 km from Molde. In the Middle Ages, Bud was one of the main fish trading posts between Bergen and Trondheim.
Today's village is small, with painted wooden houses, a harbor with fishing boats, warehouses and a fish restaurant. The wooden church from 1717, white, sits on the hill, with the cemetery facing the sea. Paths lead to viewpoints on the coastal rocks, from which you can see the sequence of islets and reefs that continues to the Estrada do Atlântico.
Bud is a stop on road 64 between Molde and Kristiansund, and a peaceful alternative for those who want to stay near the sea in fishermen's cabins and guesthouses.
In winter, storms from the Hustadvika hit the coast hard, and the waves breaking over the reefs are visible from the viewpoints.
