Check before booking. Sandane airport is about 50 minutes away; Ålesund about three hours. Buses connect Olden with Loen, Stryn and Bergen. In summer, cruise ships dock at the quay.

How many days

Half a day for Briksdal and the Oldedalen; a full day if you include the old church and stops at the farms and campsites in the valley.

When to go

From May to September, when the Briksdal trail is usually snow-free and the electric cars operate. On cruise ship days the trail gets crowded at midday. In winter, few services.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?
