Check before booking. From Bergen it's about two and a half hours by car or bus via the Hardanger Bridge; from Oslo about five hours via road 7. In summer boats connect Eidfjord to Norheimsund.

One day for Vøringsfossen, the Hardangervidda center and the Hardanger Bridge. With one overnight there's time left for valley hikes.

When to go

From June to September, with the waterfall full and the viewpoints snow-free. Road 7 across the plateau often has winter restrictions; check. In winter the village is quiet, with short days.

Do you need a car?

A car helps for Vøringsfossen and the visitor center. In summer there are excursion buses; regular buses run along road 7.
