Get to know the place

A region to enjoy
at your own pace.

Rauma lets you visit two historic ensembles at different scales. Vanha Rauma is a living neighborhood, with wooden houses and streets that invite walking. The Church of the Holy Cross adds a medieval stone interior near the old core.

Outside the center, Sammallahdenmäki groups Bronze Age burial cairns in a landscape of forest and rock. Visiting requires a road trip and time for walking. Treating the two World Heritage components separately avoids reducing the archaeological site to a quick stop.

The town lies on the west coast, between Turku and Pori, and is served by intercity buses. The center is easily explored on foot; access to the site depends on arranged transport. In cold months, interiors and the availability of paths should guide your plan.
