About Malecón del Salado
The Malecón del Salado runs along the shore of the Estero Salado, a branch of the sea and mangrove that enters the city from the west, different from the Guayas River to the east. The promenade stretches from near the Universidad de Guayaquil to the El Velero bridge and is part of the urban renewal that turned the estuary's waterfront into a recreational space.
This section has paths by the water, green areas, plazas and resting points, and opposite it the Parque Lineal do Estero Salado. In the body of water there is a large fountain, the Pileta Monumental, with water displays and colorful lights that usually operate at night.
The place is more frequented by locals than by tourists, and shows another side of the city, more residential, close to the neighborhoods of Urdesa and the west-central area.
From the promenade you can see the estuary and the mangrove vegetation that still surrounds parts of the water.
