About La Lobería
La Lobería is about 2.5 km south of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, past the airport. It is a small white-sand beach among lava rocks, protected by a rock barrier, where a colony of Galápagos sea lions lives. Females, pups and males rest on the sand and rocks, and go in and out of the sea all the time.
Marine iguanas, dark in color, appear on the rocks, basking after diving to eat algae, and red crabs are common. A dirt trail follows the headland to cliffs over the sea, with frigatebirds, boobies (atobás) and sometimes turtles visible in the water.
Snorkeling with sea lions and turtles is done in the cove when the sea is calm. Next to it, a surf beach attracts surfers.
The beach is usually visited without a guide. Keep your distance from the animals, do not touch the pups and do not stand between them and the sea.
