About Praia de Dueodde
Dueodde is the southern tip of Bornholm and has the island's most popular beach. The sand, very fine and pale, forms dunes up to 12 metres above the sea, among pine woods planted to stabilise the sand. The beach is long and shallow, with the sea rising slowly, which makes it popular with families with children.
The Dueodde lighthouse, from 1962, is the tallest on Bornholm, and the stairway leads to a viewing platform over the dunes, the sea and, on clear days, the Baltic horizon. From the car park to the beach, a wooden boardwalk crosses the dunes and the woods.
Dueodde's sand was once used in hourglasses and as blotting material because it is so fine. The southern coast continues with beaches all the way to Snogebæk, a fishing village with a smokehouse.
