About Centro antigo de Rønne

Rønne is the largest town on Bornholm and the arrival port for the ferries. The old centre, between the harbour and the square Store Torv, has cobbled streets with low, single-storey houses painted yellow, pink, green and blue, many with tile roofs and wooden doors from the 18th and 19th centuries. Laksegade and Storegade feature merchants' houses and buildings from the old garrison.

The square Store Torv, where troops once paraded, contains the old guard post (Hovedvagten) and the town hall. The Igreja de São Nicolau (Sankt Nicolai Kirke), white, stands on a promontory above the sea, with a cemetery and views over the harbour.

Rønne is also known for its ceramics, made from the island's clay: there are workshops and ceramists' shops in the centre, some open to watch the potter's wheel. The town has beaches north and south of the harbour.
