Filandia
Filandia is a small town in northern Quindío, founded in 1878, on a mountain ridge at about 1,900 meters. The plaza and the streets of the center preserve colorful bahareque houses with wooden balconies, and the town is known for its vine basketry. A wooden viewpoint near the center looks out over the surrounding coffee mountains. It is 30 minutes from Salento and is quieter.

Salento
Salento is a small town in Quindío, founded in 1842, at about 1,900 meters altitude, with bahareque houses painted in bright colors around the Calle Real. It is the gateway to the Valle de Cocora, home to the wax palms, Colombia’s national tree, and a base for visiting coffee farms on the surrounding slopes. Willys jeeps leave the square for Cocora.
