The city

What to expect from Salento.

Salento is a small town in Quindío, founded in 1842, at about 1,900 meters altitude, with bahareque houses painted in bright colors around the Calle Real. It is the gateway to the Valle de Cocora, home to the wax palms, Colombia’s national tree, and a base for visiting coffee farms on the surrounding slopes. Willys jeeps leave the square for Cocora.
