About Cayo Sal
Cayo Sal is a few minutes by speedboat from the orla of Chichiriviche, in the northern part of Parque Nacional Morrocoy. It is a caye of fine white sand, with coconut palms and a beach of shallow, clear water.
The name comes from a small salt pan inside the caye, a saltwater lagoon behind the beach. The side facing the coast has calm water, good for swimming; the open-sea side has more waves.
The caye often has stalls, umbrellas and vendors selling food and drink, and is one of the most popular with visitors to Chichiriviche.
Boats depart from the piers on the orla, with a return time arranged. Nearby are Cayo Muerto and Cayo Peraza, which can be included on the same excursion.
