About Salto Kamá

Salto Kamá, Kamá-Merú in the pemón language, is a waterfall of about 50 meters high in the Gran Sabana, in the eastern sector of Parque Nacional Canaima. The water falls from a rock edge into a wide pool, surrounded by vegetation, in the middle of the open savanna.

The viewpoint is a few steps from the road at the edge of the fall, offering views of the drop and the valley. A trail descends to the base, where you can feel the spray. Next to it is the pemón community of Kamá, with rustic lodgings, food and handicrafts.

The fall is located in one of the highest parts of the Troncal 10, with the savanna stretching in all directions and tepuis in the distance.

In the rainy season the waterfall is usually wider and has greater flow; in the dry season it is thinner.
