About Quebrada Pacheco
Quebrada Pacheco, Arapán-Merú in the pemón language, is a set of tiered waterfalls beside the Troncal 10 in the middle of the savanna, north of Santa Elena de Uairén. The stream flows over slabs of rock and forms natural dark pools, tea-colored because of the local plants.
The main drop is close to the road, and access is short, via a trail that descends to the rocks. On the slabs, the water creates natural slides and pools where visitors often bathe.
From above you can see the surrounding savanna, with tepuis on the horizon on clear days. It is one of the most visited stops on the road, together with Quebrada de Jaspe.
In the rainy season, from May to November, the water usually rises and the current becomes stronger; swim only in calm areas.
