About Malecón de Miraflores

The Malecón is the succession of parks that runs along the edge of the Miraflores cliffs, about 70 meters above the sea. It's several kilometers of promenade and bike path, with lawns, benches and viewpoints over the Pacific and the Costa Verde, the seafront avenue below. From there you can see the rocky beaches, the surfers and, on clear days, the island of San Lorenzo to the north.

The most visited section is Parque del Amor, opened in 1993, with the sculpture El Beso by Víctor Delfín, of a couple lying down kissing. The surrounding walls are covered in colorful mosaics with love phrases, inspired by Park Güell in Barcelona. Nearby, Parque Raimondi is the spot from which paragliders often launch to fly over the coast.

A little to the south, the Larcomar shopping center was built into the cliff face itself, with shops and restaurants on terraces facing the sea. On the other side, heading north, the Malecón reaches the La Marina lighthouse and continues toward San Isidro.

The Malecón is used by residents of Lima for running, cycling and walking their dogs, early in the morning and at sunset. Bikes can be rented at points in the neighborhood and you can follow the bike path to Barranco.
