How to get there

  • Aeropuerto Internacional Silvio Pettirossi (ASU) Luque · 15 km
  • Terminal de Ómnibus de Asunción 6 km

Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.

Confirm before buying. From the airport, in Luque, taxis and ride‑hailing apps take you to the center. There is a border control: carry your ID.

How many days

Two days: one for the historic center on foot, with the Costanera at sunset, and another for the Loma San Jerónimo, Mercado 4 and the Museo del Barro. With a third day, go to Areguá or San Bernardino on Lago Ypacaraí.

When to go

From April to June and from August to October temperatures are usually more pleasant for walking. From December to February the heat is strong and humid: leave walks for the morning and late afternoon. From June to August the winter is mild, with some cold days. Rain falls in heavy showers year‑round.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

No. The historic center is covered on foot, and the more distant neighborhoods, like the one with the Museo del Barro, are 15 to 20 minutes by taxi or app. A car only helps to go around Lago Ypacaraí and return the same day.
