About Flydalsjuvet

Flydalsjuvet is the lookout on estrada 63, about 4 km from Geiranger toward Dalsnibba, roughly 300 meters above the fjord. From there you can see the village, the quay and the Geirangerfjord wedging between the mountains — the view that appears in many photos of the area.

There are two observation platforms, designed for the Rotas Turísticas Nacionais, with railings and benches, linked by a path. The lower one sits on a projecting rock over the valley and is where many people take photos. On the higher platform a stone chair, called Cadeira da Rainha, commemorates Queen Sônia’s visit to the viewpoint.

The viewpoint lies on the route for those arriving in Geiranger from the south, coming from Stryn and Lom, and for those heading up to Dalsnibba. There is a small roadside parking area that fills up around midday in summer.

Because it’s on the main road, Flydalsjuvet is often accessible outside the high season as well, when the section down to the village is open.
