About Guyaspace Expérience
The Guyaspace Expérience is the science outreach space of the Centro Espacial Guianense, in Kourou, which replaced the former Museu do Espaço. Instead of display cases, visitors find an interactive route with screens, models and simulators across four main areas: the history of the base and space in Guiana, launch preparation, the use of satellites in everyday life and the protection of nature inside the base.
In the launch area, visitors follow a countdown and a rocket's ascent into orbit. In the satellites area they see how satellites serve weather forecasting, GPS and environmental monitoring. The base is also a protected area of savannah and mangrove, and part of the visit shows the animals and plants that live among the platforms.
Admission includes planetarium sessions — about 30 minutes under the dome — and scientific workshops with programming that changes throughout the year, such as the Missão Lua, which simulates life on a lunar base and is recommended for ages 6 and up. A temporary exhibition, renewed every year, completes the visit.
Explanations are in French and English. The space is accessible for people with reduced mobility and is open year-round; check times and the planetarium schedule in advance.
