How many days
Two days: one for the missions of Trinidad and Jesús, with Trinidad's night show, and another for the Costanera and the beaches. In summer, three to four days.
When to go
From December to February is beach season, with strong heat. The Carnaval Encarnaceno is usually between January and February; confirm the dates. For the missions, March to June and August to November tend to have more pleasant temperatures. Rain comes in showers throughout the year.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
No for the city and the Costanera, which are connected by taxi and city bus. For the missions, a car or taxi makes it easier to see Trinidad and Jesús in the same day and return at night; there are also regular buses along Ruta PY06 and agency tours.
