About Monumento Natural Cerro Koi
Cerro Koi is a small hill about 2 km from the centre of Areguá, known for sandstone formations in six- to eight-sided columns, fitted together like honeycombs. The rocks formed millions of years ago, and the geometric pattern appears on the walls and on loose blocks among the vegetation.
The hill was declared a Natural Monument in 1993, and the protected area includes the neighboring Cerro Chororí. Short trails climb between the rocks and vegetation to the points where the columns are exposed.
The visit is short and pairs well with a walk through Areguá's centre. The rocks can become slippery after rain.
It's a place for those who enjoy geology and a bit of walking. Bring water and closed-toe shoes.
