About Termales de Santa Rosa de Cabal

The Termales de Santa Rosa de Cabal lie in a narrow valley of the Cordillera Central, at about 2,000 meters altitude, surrounded by native forest. Hot water emerges from the ground heated by volcanic activity in the Parque Los Nevados region and fills outdoor pools, with temperatures around 40 °C. Beside them, a cold waterfall drops from a great height down the slope.

There are two main complexes in the valley: the thermal bathing area, simpler and popular with Colombian families, and the thermal hotel, with pools, a restaurant, a spa and accommodation at the foot of the waterfall. Both accept day visitors. Nearby, the Termales San Vicente, in another valley, are a thermal reserve with pools in the middle of the forest.

Bathing is best in the late afternoon and at night, when the air cools and steam rises from the pools. The town of Santa Rosa de Cabal, on the way, is known for chorizo santarrosano, a pork sausage served with arepa at the stalls and restaurants in the plaza.

Access is via a narrow mountain road, with local transport leaving from the Santa Rosa plaza.
