About Mirador Colina Iluminada

The Mirador Colina Iluminada sits on a hill a few minutes' walk from the center of Filandia. It is a multi-level tower made of wood and guadua, built to showcase the landscape around the town. From the top the view is circular: slopes covered with coffee plantations, banana groves and woods, the valleys of the Barbas and Quindío rivers, the neighboring towns and, on clear days, the mountains of the Central and Western Cordilleras.

In the late afternoon, when the sky is clear, you can see the sun set behind the mountains, and at night the lights of Pereira, Armenia and nearby villages light up on the horizon. The tower has a snack bar and a craft shop at its base.

The ascent is via internal stairs, with landings between levels. The wind is often strong at the top.

The lookout complements a visit to the center and gives a sense of the Paisagem Cultural Cafeeira, with farms spread across the hills.
