When to go
The European summer, from June to September, is beach season, with more people in July and August. The Atlantic water is usually cold. Spring and autumn are good for walking and cycling along the coast.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
No. The train comes from Lisboa, and the centre is walkable. The Boca do Inferno is about a 20-minute walk away. There is a bike path along the coast to the Guincho and there are buses.
