The city
A former fishing village on the coast west of Lisboa, which became a seaside resort when the royal family started spending summers at the Cidadela in the late 19th century. It has a bay with boats, a historic centre of cobbled streets, the Casa das Histórias Paula Rego, the Farol-Museu de Santa Marta and a seafront promenade to the Estoril. To the west lie the Boca do Inferno and the Praia do Guincho.
