Paris

Capital of France, on the banks of the Seine. On the Île de la Cité are Notre-Dame, the Sainte-Chapelle and the Conciergerie; on the right bank, the Louvre, the Tuileries, the Concorde, the Champs-Élysées and the Arc de Triomphe, the Marais and Montmartre; on the left bank, the Tour Eiffel, the Musée d'Orsay, the Invalides, the Quartier Latin and the Jardin du Luxembourg.

Fontainebleau

Fontainebleau is a town about 70 km southeast of Paris, surrounded by a huge forest. The Château de Fontainebleau, used by kings for eight centuries, is the main attraction, and the Forêt de Fontainebleau draws hikers and boulder climbers. Nearby are Barbizon, the painters' village, and the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte.

Versailles is the town built around the palace of Louis XIV, about 20 km from Paris. The visit brings together the Château de Versailles, with the Galerie des Glaces, the Le Nôtre gardens with their fountains and the Domaine de Trianon of Maria Antonieta. In the town are the Grande Écurie, with the equestrian academy, the Potager du Roi and the Marché Notre-Dame.
