Aveiro

City on the edge of the Ria de Aveiro, cut by canals where moliceiros operate. In the centre are the art nouveau buildings along the Canal Central, the cathedral (Sé) and the Museu de Aveiro, in the former Mosteiro de Jesus. A few kilometres away, between the ria and the sea, are Costa Nova, with its striped houses, and Praia da Barra, with the tallest lighthouse in Portugal.
