About Costanera de Encarnación
The Costanera de Encarnación is the avenue that runs along the Paraná River and skirts much of the city. It was created with the works of the Yacyretá dam, which raised the river level and covered the old low-lying part of Encarnación. In its place, the city gained a promenade, green areas, sandy beaches and an avenue stretching several kilometers.
Playa San José is the busiest beach, alongside a gastronomic promenade with bars and restaurants. There are also municipal beaches along the waterfront.
From the promenade you can see the wide river, the Argentine city of Posadas on the other side and the San Roque González de Santa Cruz bridge that links the two countries. In the late afternoon the sun sets over the Paraná.
Out of season, the Costanera is a place for walking, running and cycling, with fewer people and milder temperatures.
