Perúgia – Úmbria Destination Úmbria Capital

How to get there

  • Aeroporto di Roma-Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci (FCO) Fiumicino · 200 km
  • Aeroporto Internazionale dell'Umbria - Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi (PEG) Perugia · 15 km
  • Perugia (Fontivegge) Perugia · 3 km

Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.

Confirm before booking. The most used airport is Rome–Fiumicino (FCO). From Rome the train takes about 2h30 to 3h, typically with a change in Foligno or Terontola; from Florence, about 2h. From Fontivegge station the Minimetrò goes up to the historic centre. Perúgia's small airport (PEG) has few European flights.

How many days

A full day covers the historic centre, the Galleria Nazionale and the Collegio del Cambio. With two days you can include the Basilica di San Pietro, the Ipogeo dei Volumni and a relaxed evening on Corso Vannucci. Perúgia also serves as a base for Assis, about 20 minutes by train.

When to go

April to June and September to October usually offer better weather for the slopes. In July the city typically hosts Umbria Jazz, and in October Eurochocolate; at those times accommodation is more in demand. Winter is cold and damp, with short days.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

No. The historic centre is a ZTL (limited traffic zone), closed to outside cars. Those arriving by car leave their vehicle in car parks such as Piazza Partigiani and go up via the escalators of the Rocca Paolina. From the station, the Minimetrò takes you to the centre in a few minutes.
