Check before booking. Kerry Airport is about 60 km away. From Killarney it’s around 65 km, just over 1 hour by car; buses link Dingle to Tralee, which has a train station, and to Killarney. If you have a car you can reach it via the Conor Pass, a narrow mountain road.

How many days

Two nights allow one day for the Slea Head Drive, including Gallarus, and an afternoon for the town and harbour. With one night, do the Slea Head on the day of arrival or departure.

When to go

From May to September the sightseeing boats operate and the days are long. July and August are busy and guesthouses often fill up. April, May and September tend to be quieter. In winter the wind and rain are strong, but the town still has pubs and restaurants open.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

For the town, no. For the Slea Head Drive and Gallarus, a car is the most practical option; there are also mini-bus tours and bikes to hire. The roads are narrow, and in Ireland you drive on the left. Signs on the peninsula are only in Irish.
