Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.
Honfleur has no train station. The nearest station is Gare de Trouville-Deauville, about 15 km away, with trains from Paris-Saint-Lazare; from there take a taxi or a regional bus. There are also buses from Le Havre and from Caen. By car, it's about 85 km from Rouen via the motorway.
How many days
Half a day is enough for the Vieux Bassin, the igreja de Santa Catarina and one museum. A full day allows you to see both museums at a relaxed pace or add Étretat. Staying overnight in Honfleur lets you see the harbor empty early in the morning.
When to go
From May to September, with long days and mild temperatures. In the European summer and on weekends the town gets crowded; on weekdays and in shoulder seasons it is quieter. Museums may be closed for part of the winter.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
For Honfleur on its own, no: the center is small and can be explored on foot. A car helps to get there since there is no train, and it's the most practical way to combine it with Étretat or with Deauville and Trouville in the same day.
