Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.
Via Nice Côte d'Azur airport (NCE), about 27 km away, with direct buses or trains from Nice. Check before buying. TER trains link Gare de Cannes to Nice and Antibes with frequent departures, and there are TGVs from Paris.
How many days
One day is enough to see the Croisette, the Palais, Le Suquet and the market. With two days, set aside one for the Îles de Lérins. It's easy to do Cannes as a day trip from Nice.
When to go
May, June and September usually have pleasant weather. In May there is the Festival de Cannes, when the city is packed and accommodation is expensive. July and August are the beach months, and the sea tends to be warmer from July to September. Boats to the islands run more frequently from April to October.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
No. The centre, the Croisette, Le Suquet and the port are within walking distance of Gare de Cannes, and the islands are visited by boat. The TER train links Cannes with Antibes and Nice. Parking near the waterfront is difficult and expensive.
